Heterick for Faculty and Staff

Library Card

Your faculty/staff ID serves as your library card. IDs are non-transferrable; only you can check out items using your card. You are welcome to check out items for others (e.g. a picture book for your child), but all items you check out on your account are ultimately your responsibility.

If you have family members who would like to use the library on their own, they may apply for a community user card at the Information Desk on the first floor.

Loan Lengths and Renewals

Loan lengths are as follows:

  • Heterick Books: semester
  • OhioLINK Books: 42 days
  • DVDs and VHSs: 7 days
  • Heterick CDs: 14 days
  • OhioLINK CDs: 7 days
  • Reference Books: 1 day

You can renew items in person, over the phone, and online. If another patron has placed a hold on an item, you will not be able to renew it.

  • In-person: Come to the Information Desk on the first floor of the library. You do not need to bring the items with you.
  • Phone: Call the Information Desk at ext. 2181.
  • Online: Renew through your library account following the steps below. See the video below for a walkthrough of this process.
    • select the "Find Books & More" tab on the library homepage
    • click on "My Library Account"
    • log in with your full first and last name and your ONU ID, which is the 11-digit number on the front of your ONU ID card (please note that this is different from the off-campus login for library databases)
    • select the items you would like to renew and click "Renew Marked," or simply click "Renew All" to renew all of the items you have checked out

How to Renew Items Online


Fine rates are as follows:

  • Heterick Item Overdue: no charge
  • Heterick Item Lost/Damaged: cost of item + $10 processing fee
  • OhioLINK Item Overdue: no charge
  • OhioLINK Item Lost/Damaged: $75 replacement charge (waived if the book is ultimately returned) + $50 processing fee

You can pay fines in cash or by check at the Information Desk.
