Resources for Alumni and Retirees

Research resources for Ohio Northern University alumni and retirees

On Campus Access - Alumni and Retirees

Alumni and retirees retain some access to Heterick Library resources.

  • On-campus and remote searching of the library catalog.
  • On-campus access to databases and e-books. Retirees may access these from any computer on campus (for example, an office computer or computer in a computer lab in another building).
  • Alumni, if residents of Hardin and surrounding counties, may also apply for Community User cards to check out items from the Heterick collection (see the "Obtaining a Community User Card" box below). Retirees may continue to use their ONU ID as their library card to check out materials.

OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan Access - Retirees

Staff and faculty retirees retain some special privileges related to OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan, provided they remain in Ada or Ohio.

  • Search the OhioLINK and SearchOhio catalogs, both on campus and remotely.
  • Request items through OhioLINK and SearchOhio for pickup at ONU.
  • Use the OhioLINK Pickup Anywhere service.
    • Pickup Anywhere enables OhioLINK patrons to request an item and have it delivered somewhere other than their home institution. For example, if you retire and move to Columbus, you could use your retiree ONU credentials to request a book from Case Western and have it delivered to Ohio State for pickup.
  • Use the OhioLINK Visiting Patron service.
    • Visiting Patron enables OhioLINK patrons to check out items in person somewhere other than their home institution using their home institution credentials. For example, if you retire and move to Columbus, you could go in person to the Ohio State library and use your ONU ID card to check out items.
  • Place interlibrary loan requests for materials unavailable through OhioLINK and SearchOhio. Note that during the academic year, requests from current students, faculty, and staff will take priority.
