DigitalCommons@ONU is Ohio Northern University's institutional repository of digital materials that supports the research and teaching mission of the University, and serves as a platform that captures and preserves the intellectual output of the university community. The mission of DigitalCommons@ONU is to support scholarship, promote research and cross-disciplinary collaboration, provide access to digital instructional materials created by the ONU community, and record the history of the University.

The institutional repository is intended as a platform for open access research. Materials submitted will, when possible, be made available to the public. Some content may have limited access due to an embargo period, copyright or licensing, or other issues.

The repository collects and provides access to:

  • Published scholarly articles by faculty and/or staff
  • Published or unpublished scholarly articles by current students
  • Faculty or student journals
  • Student projects, posters and capstones
  • Conference proceedings
  • Course materials and lectures
  • Creative works
  • History and archives

DigitalCommons@ONU aims to:

  • Highlight and promote cross-disciplinary collaborations, a key focus of Ohio Northern University
  • Raise the visibility of Ohio Northern University’s research, publications, and instructional material for faculty and student to fellow scholars, prospective students, prospective employees, and other stakeholders
  • Provide persistent and centralized access to research and scholarly activity, including centralized access statistics
  • Promote open access where possible
  • Document the progress of the Ohio Northern University faculty and their research
  • Provide a platform for history and archives of the university
