Before contacting employers to request an informational meeting or interview, you should carefully create the following core materials typically requested by employers. These are the tools you will need to effectively “market” yourself:
• A resume
• A cover letter
• An official or unofficial transcript
• A writing sample
• A list of professional and/or academic references (preferably from three sources)
This guide will help you find resources to compose these documents, and identify several places to search for jobs.
Ohio Northern University provides electronic transcript service (eTranscript) through The National Student Clearinghouse, a third-party vendor. Electronic transcripts are delivered within 24 hours, but normal processing for mailed transcripts takes two to five days after the request is received, so leave enough time to order transcripts before application deadlines.
