Jessup Competition Archives: Jessup 2019

A basic research guide for issues presented by the 2021 Jessup Competition problem.

Introduction to Jessup

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world's largest moot court competition, with participants from over 550 law schools in more than 87 countries. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.

This guide lists resources that may be helpful to participants in the Jessup competition. It is focused on the topic of Public International Law.

The 2019 Jessup Problem deals with indigenous rights in international law, state liability for internationally wrongful acts by a private entity, preservation of biodiversity and the environment.
